Conference Excursions take place before the conference and are a great way to experience the local community and enrich your conference experience. This year we are offering two Conference Excursions:
Conference Side Trips take place during the conference and are intentionally designed to help you network and socialize with other NODA members. This year we are offering two Conference Side Trips:
Registration for Side Trips & Excursions is part of your NODAC Registration and can be included as part of your initial registration or added on later. During checkout registrants have the option to Split payment methods if necessary. Space is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Excursion: Day at Washington Park
Sunday, November 10, 2024
Price: $65
Includes: continental breakfast, roundtrip transportation via light rail (MAX), and timed entrance to the Oregon Zoo and Japanese Garden
Explore Washington Park is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to connecting people with the culture, diversity, and wonder of nature in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. Their mission is to provide an accessible, inclusive, and cohesive experience for all who visit Portland’s destination park. The park is one of Oregon’s top tourist destinations. At 410 acres, it is home to the Hoyt Arboretum, Portland Japanese Garden, World Forestry Center, Oregon Zoo, and the International Rose Test Garden, as well as memorials, an archery range, playgrounds, tennis courts, and 15+ miles of trails. This excursion includes a timed entrance to the Oregon Zoo and Japanese Garden.
Once at the park, the Washington Park Free Shuttle provides daily, year-round service, running a loop inside the park and arrives every 15-30 minutes, stopping at the Park’s major destinations and cultural institutions.
Schedule:
8:30 am – Continental breakfast at Hilton Downtown Portland
9:00 am – Ride MAX from Pioneer Square to Washington Park
9:30 am – Visit Oregon Zoo
12:30 pm – Visit Japanese Garden
Return to hotel at your leisure via MAX
Pro-tip: The zoo allows re-entry the same day until the zoo gates close (4:30 pm). On your way to exit speak to a staff person at the scanning station and request a hand stamp for re-entry.
Excursion: Portland City Brewery Tour

Includes: Roundtrip transportation via private bus, 2 stops at local craft breweries, and beer-themed Snacks.
Join NODA members on a private VIP experience at three of Portland’s greatest breweries. At each stop, participants will learn about the history of each brewery, take a behind the scenes tour, and sample some of the local favorites. Must be 21+ to participate.
Schedule:
6:30 pm – Depart at Hilton Downtown Portland
10:45 pm – Return to Hilton Downtown Portland
Side Trip: River Cruise & Dinner on the Portland Spirit
Tuesday, November 12
Price: $95
Includes: Dinner and a two and half hour river cruise.
Join us for our Side Trip on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 6:30-9:30 pm for an experience aboard the Portland Spirit. Departing from Downtown Portland, see the city in a whole new light as you travel the Willamette River seeing several of the Portland Bridges and the historic Milwaukie Waterfront. A cash bar will be available. We hope you will join NODA for a festive gathering of colleagues as a quintessential Portland experience!
Dinner includes fresh baked bread, seasonal house salad, dessert, and choice of one of the following:
Option 1: Baked Pacific cod topped with lemon caper cream sauce, chef’s choice of starch, and seasonal vegetables.
Option 2: Champagne citrus marinated breast of chicken finished with an orange glaze, chef’s choice of starch, and seasonal vegetables. (GF)
Option 3: Yellow Thai curry vegetables over steamed rice (V, GF)

Side Trip: NODA Networks Dinner & Social
Wednesday, November 13
Price: $45
Includes: Dinner and free access to games at Punch Bowl Social Portland.
Join us for our conversation and socializing with members of each NODA Network at Punch Bowl Social Portland. You will have an opportunity to have dinner in small groups with others and engage in conversations impacting your work. Seating will be by NODA network. Following dinner, join your colleagues for a fun time with bowling, ping pong, darts, and assorted board/card games. A cash bar will be available.
Dinner will be served buffet style and will include:
